ACT WORD
OF WEEK
Attention residents in all districts, there has been an incredible turn of events in the Phone-in-Friday Games. Last week, Mr. Taylor's District won the challenge with their sentence about Rue absconding with prizes from the cornucopia; however, Melyssa Kurth from Madame Biallas' District was quick to point out that, 'Rue didn't abscond w/anything from the cornucopia....She was small and timid, and when the start cannon sounded, she turned and ran into the woods.' She's absolutely correct! So, the Capitol awarded donuts to Madame Biallas' District this morning. Mr. Taylor's District will have to work extra shifts in the knowledge mines to repay the Capitol for the donuts they ate last Friday...That is unless they win the Phone-in-Friday Games this week.
So, people of all Advisory Districts, your ACT Word of the Week is: accost (uh-kost).
Accost is a verb that means to approach boldly or confront aggressively.
When the girls learned that Robert Pattinson was in the back of the limousine, they accosted the car, tearing the doors off the frame just to get a look at their favorite vampire hunk.
